Your hotel in the Dolomites
At Castel Pietra hotel we are happy to have you as our guests while you discover the Dolomites and the nearbies.
These mountains have been listed as Unesco World Heritage site since 2009 and their uniqueness is due to the dolostone they are composed of and their shape characterized by pinnacles and towers. The Dolomites were originally known as "pale mountains" because of their light colour. At sunset they take on a pink shade which is called "enrosadira" in the Ladin language. The "Gruppo delle Pale" dominates the Dolomites in Primiero. One of the highest summit here is Cimon della Pala, also known as "Matterhorn of the Dolomites". The Pale Group includes a vast plateau, where you will find the second largest glacier of the Dolomites, after the Marmolada one: the Fradusta glacier.
